The “Fluid” Collection:
In this collection, the notion of fluidity is taken in a new direction by experimenting with molten wax in water. Using this technique allowed me to explore feelings around control and letting go. The shapes were allowed to develop organically. I selected the shapes that spoke to me and refined them before sending them to be cast using the ancient technique of lost wax casting.
Some pieces were kept as one off pieces. Others were refined further and a mound was made so that they could be recast. The pieces in this collection vary greatly, but with each piece you experience the essence of how the wax, and then the silver, flowing freely into its unique shape with the guidance of the hand of the designer.

“Jewellery that invites curiosity.”
Contemporary Jewellery created by Katie Woollett.
Katie works with Silver, Gold, semi precious Gemstones and Beads.
Originally a psychotherapist, I began making natural gemstone bead jewellery as a hobby, selling in craft markets. I quickly realized there were very few places that only sold Irish Handmade Crafts, so with a friend, we set up a group called Creative Collective Ireland in 2009. We gathered together about 45 Craftspeople making quality Irish handmade products and ran an annual craft fair and several pop up shops.
In 2016 I had the opportunity to retrain as a goldsmith over 2 years half time, and I jumped at the chance. I trained in an apprenticeship format every morning, and continued as a therapist in the afternoons. In 2018, when I could have been thinking of retirement, I set up Journeys End Studio in Dublin and focused on building a small but sustainable jewellery business. I am delighted with my second career and urge everyone to follow their dreams! It’s never too late!
Perhaps because of my background I an interested in what draws us to a particular style of Jewellery and the “Fluid” silver collection is a creative response to the loss of control experienced in lockdown!

The "Natural Gemstone" Collection.
For many years now, I have collected natural gemstone beads from around the world. I love to mix these to explore interesting combinations of shape, texture and colour in the jewellery I create. As with my silver jewellery, I am drawn to the irregular, and the challenge is to ensure that there is still a sense of balance in each piece if jewellery that emerges.
I invite you to visit my shop, leaving traditional expectations behind, and see what pieces you are drawn to, either for yourself or as a gift for a special person in your life. You may be surprised!
