A tradition still practiced today using rushes, a type of grass found all over Ireland on wet land. St. Brigid's crosses are often made on 1st February and sprinkled with holy water. This traditional craft is taught to the children of Ireland at school and hung in the house to protect the house from fire and bless all who live there. This handmade decoration is made using the traditional method and material. It comes with St. Brigid's prayer and has been blessed using sacred water from St. Brigid's Holy Well in Newcastle West, Limerick.
This is a wonderful gift or token for nearly any occasion not just for St Brigid's day as it carries a blessing of good will and protection from Ireland.
