We designed our Feadán pen range so routine writing tasks become infinitely more enjoyable, utilising a simple and minimalist form we pay homage to the beauty of the wood we craft from, the woods utterly original character gives certainty that each Feadán is unique. Feadán is the Irish word for tube and the shape and function of a tube is to allow unfettered movement within it, a Feadán is a tactile conduit enabling the unfettered flow of feelings to paper for the intimate writing task that is anything but routine when words and emotion are so expressive that they need to be shared as has always been the way in Irish literary heritage, holding a pen made from wood grown in Ireland is a beautiful way to connect with that heritage.
Spalted Irish Beech gives us beautiful wood with unique colours and grain. Our Spalted beech comes from the famous Farnham Estate in Co. Cavan just a few miles from our workshop. We select the wood with the most interesting grain to craft our pens from. No other pen in the world is exactly like yours!
The tubular design is very tactile, holding the pen has a playfulness to it and lining up the wood grain each time the cap is posted is fun and addictive.
As a personal, corporate or club gift, no other pen in the world is exactly like yours!

Irish Pens is based in Co. Cavan and is run by myself (Richard) and my wife, Catherine Daly. I am the 3rd generation in the Daly family who is now making my living from woodworking. My grandfather and father were master cabinetmakers and my brother continues this tradition, so wood and woodworking is in my blood!
We celebrate Ireland's literary heritage and acknowledge the purity of our country’s ecological landscape, by hand crafting a collection of writing instruments made with wood from the forests of Ireland.
Our handmade instruments are crafted to deliver a first-class writing experience. Our pens pay homage to the tree that provided the wood they are made from. All Irish Pens are crafted in our workshop located behind our home in County Cavan, for us this is not just a business it's very personal for us to exceed our clients expectations.
We use mainly woods grown in Ireland for our pens, wood linked to famous Irish forests, famous Irish trees, and woods supplied by clients that have a special narrative for them. It's this link to Ireland and the fact our pens make sustainable, interesting, thoughtful, and personal gifts that our customers like the most.
Our goal is to exceed our customers’ expectations.
We sponsored our first native Irish tree in the Woodland Forest of Aurora, Glencree, Co. Wicklow in October 2020.
So we can say for sure that fountain pens, rollerball, ballpoints, and pencils are all growing in the forest thanks to the clients of Irish Pens. Through our conversations with the Tree Council of Ireland, we were honoured to have been accepted as Affiliate Members of the Tree Council of Ireland.
