A lovely personalised Ireland to Australia handcrafted wooden Gift. Newly designed and crafted, this Ireland Australia gift is the perfect wooden wall hanging for anyone with a connection to Ireland and Australia! Handcrafted by Furniture Designer-Maker and Woodturner Cian Magill, it has a truly unique story. 


The piece is made from an Oregon / Big-Leaf Maple tree (that lived in the Library Square, on the Trinity College Dublin grounds since ca. 1845). Native to the Pacific Northwest of America and Canada, the 175 year-old Maple displays beautiful and rare ‘figured’ grain details such as ‘spalting’ and ‘cats-paw' burl. Shimmering ‘Curly Maple’ streaks are also visible. ‘Spalting’ is any form of wood colouration caused by fungi, and is sought after by woodworkers for it’s unique patterns. ‘Cats-paw’ is a type of burl wood where little dots form in a pattern. The grain surrounding these dots is usually particularly interesting, as it twists and glistens off light. Finished in natural linseed oil with respect, care, and love.


The engraved pinpoints and place names can be personalised to any 2 locations you wish. Simply let me know in the information box upon checkout. This is engraved in the beautiful old Gaelic font 'Bunchló', used in Ireland by our ancestors until the mid 20th century.


The map also comes with a screen-printed, 100% Fair-trade organic-cotton bag, and a lovely Celtic style info card.

Magill Woodcraft was established in 2014 by Cian Magill, a graduate of GMIT Letterfrack. Studying Furniture Design and Manufacture gave Cian an insight into the world of woodcraft, and opened a door of endless possibilities.

Amongst some of Cian’s early creations included the true beginning of Magill Woodcraft – a set of classic woodturned spinning tops, made from locally-sourced, native Irish hardwoods. This focused the maker on creating a brand with a totally unique style, and reviving his family name into a 21st century business.
