The Shuppy team were thrilled when we heard about the Design and Craft Council Ireland’s ‘Made Local’ campaign that launched last week. Its main goal is to inspire local spending, just like us! There is no better time than now to create a revolution in shopping and we’re excited that other businesses are making this a priority as well.

The Made Local campaign has been developed to sustain Ireland’s craft and design sector by increasing revenue and boosting sales for independent retailers during the Covid-19 recovery phase. DCCI believe in the importance of supporting local businesses, something that the team at Shuppy are highly passionate about. Recent research shows 43% of Irish consumers will continue to shop online even as restrictions are eased and the DCCI are calling on consumers to choose local businesses when doing so. Encouraging people to shop local, regardless of their location, is Shuppy’s primary mission and we think it’s great that this initiative is gaining traction.

Our unique location-based search functionality allows retailers to add a new element and retain the local side of their business. We encourage people who are geographically apart from their local area and loved ones to buy from independent Irish businesses and support their local economies from wherever in the world they may be.

The DCCI aim to run the Made Local campaign until the end of Summer, but supporting local communities is integral to what we do at Shuppy so we will continue to do this as our business grows. Independent businesses add character, provide employment and give a sense of community like no other to Irish towns and villages and we will be there to help them grow

Large, multinational organisations are currently key players in the gifting industry, we aim to change this and bring revenue back to Irish enterprises. Shuppy offers consumers a wide range of high-quality products and services and we have invested heavily in marketing to ensure that the Irish community across the world are aware of our offering – giving your business access to a new untapped revenue stream. Next year we will be expanding our offering to retailers across the UK, with our Irish support team covering both markets.

So we’re calling on you all to support local, it’s easy to do – just fill out the sign-up form!
